About

Created by fellow UCSD students studying the effects of tactical media and rise of social networks, this blog aims to link the offline action of art with the online reaction of participatory culture through sharing and expression. The posts include both visual and performance art that display political and social messages and the intention of the artist. The main goal of our site is to create a critical discussion for students, artists, and administrators on the UCSD campus. We want to create a space where people can discuss the issues that come along with the art, whether there has been any censorship to the artists’ expression, the importance of visual art in our campus climate, and ways to get involved offline. We encourage everyone to participate and contribute to the conversation. We strive to create a collaborative effort from students of different backgrounds to voice their thoughts and opinions through an artistic and thoughtful viewpoint. Looking at art in the social, academic or political environment of UCSD, our goal is to incorporate the idea that the internet is a place where these things can be free-flowing rather than constrained and ran by commercial or corporate ideologies.
